The practice of activities in the nature with regularity and intensity produces beneficent effects for the health and improve the quality of life of who carry out them. The mountain also provides us, wonderful landscapes and the possibility of a healthy fight against its elements to arrive to incredible places, where the prize for a unique encounter with ourselves, is achieved through our imagination and our desires. To change our lifestyle for some days it is necessary to give up our daily comforts, to forget our obligations and to direct otherwise our energy, but the effort is worthwhile and we are to here to make it easier and safer. MOUNT ACONCAGUALocated entirely in Argentina, the Aconcagua rises majestic 6969 meters in the Andes Mountain Range. Its name has several possible origins but, without doubt the most accepted one is Akon-Kahuak that derives from the Quechua language and it means "Sentry of Stone". On January 14th 1897, the Swiss guide Mathias Zurbriggen, member of the expedition directed by the English mountaineer Edward Fizt Gerald, reached alone and for the first time the main summit of the Aconcagua. He ascended along the north or normal route which goes through the Horcones’s Valley. Today, one century later, there are thousands of men and women, that guided by their steps are determine to repeat stories of fights and passions, of heights and conquests, of men and mountains. The Mount Aconcagua has two summits, the lightly higher north that the south, united by the Guanaco's ridge, where that it is possible to arrive mainly for their three routes: the northwest, furrowed by the normal route that leaves from Plaza de Mulas; the Polish Glacier that ascends for the east face and it has its starting point in Plaza Argentina and the famous South Face to whose feet are Plaza Francia. The Aconcagua is from all over the world a landmark in the dreams of the mountain's men that pawn its soul surrendering to the challenge of courting of its mystic beauty. PROTECTED NATURAL AREADecreed Protected Natural area in 1983, the Aconcagua Provincial park has the mission of diminishing the impact produced by the thousands of people that year to year visits it. Their 71.000 hectares of surface also protect, their flora, their fauna, and important archaeological places. The entrances to the main camps of the Aconcagua are carried out for the Horcones's valley that takes to the Plaza Francia and Plaza de Mulas and for the Vacas's valley that takes us to Plaza Argentina, to the foot of the Glacier of the Poles. The Renewable Natural Resource's Office of Mendoza coordinates the tasks of the Rangers corps who besides being those responsible for the handling of the park, they carry out tasks of prevention, rescue and evacuation. PERMITSPermits for admission to Aconcagua Provincial Park can be requested personally at the Renewable Natural Resource's Office (San Martin Park-Mendoza) from Monday to Saturday from 8 AM to 6 PM and Sundays from 8 AM at 12 AM hours. The price of the permits varies according to the duration of the activity (short trek: 3 days, long trek: 7 days, ascent 21 days) and the entrance date: High season-December 15 at January 31 Mid season-1at December 14 and 1 at February 20
Do I need any experience? No. All the programs are thought for people with little or any experience in mountain. Our guides and assistants will advise you permanently so that you enjoy their activity fully. What clothes and equipment do I need? In Aconcagua, as all the big mountains, the climate is difficult to predict. We should be prepared for a wide range of temperatures and conditions; cold nights and warm days, wind, snow and a bigger influence of the solar radiation. We provide the community material (kitchen utensils, tents, mountain stoves, and security equipment in case being necessary) and in each program there is a list of personal equipment recommended that each participant should bring. What should I keep in mind about my personal equipment? It is important not to bring extra elements that specified in the programs. The clothes should be comfortable always preferring the synthetic fabrics (polartec) to those of wool or cotton. We should try not to use for the first time our footwear in an excursion, to avoid unpleasant surprises as bladders or pains in our feet. The backpack should be comfortable and if it is possible anatomical with espaldar and padded tapes. The best sleeping bags are those made of duvet filler for their high insulation, under weight and little volume when being compressed. In general they should be recommended for - 20º C. How will the climate be? In summer the weather in Mendoza is excellent to carry out our activities. The hottest months are December and January. November, February and March are months with temperatures something more variable and it can happen that in the high mountain in these months occasional snow. How insurance will we be? The practices of mountaineering has inherent risks. These risks are reduced to the minimum due to the experience of our guides. Our registration of security is excellent. Who will our guides be? During all our programs you will be with professionals guides that constantly look after your security and the satisfaction in your adventure. Do I need to make reservations? Yes! In the Aconcagua season is good to carry out the reservations previously. One week before for the short trekking, thirty days before for the long trekking and the ascent to the summit. From what age can it be practiced these activities? The minimum age to participate of a group is 14 years in the activities of little intensity and 18 for the long programs. Who will our partners be? Our groups, are generally constituted, of people whose ages oscillate between 25 and 60 years, of the most diverse professions, united by an adventurous spirit and a deep respect for nature. How much do we walk per day? The trips in the nature are measured in hours, and our daily activities are programmed to be developed during 4 at 6 hours for day. Which is the march rhythm? The guide controls the dynamics of the group all the moment, adapting the step at the level of each group. How should I prepare myself? Any aerobic and force exercise is excellent to train. It is necessary to have a good physical condition for the trekking and an excellent condition for the ascent. Some extra days in Mendoza City or in a mountain area are very good for acclimatization. Can any person practice trekking? Yes, our trekking are designed for people with an acceptable physical state. It is not necessary to have previous experience neither to have specific mountain equipment. Can anyone ascend the Aconcagua mountain? For the ascent it is important to have an excellent physical condition. The height, the march distances and extreme thermal width, make the Aconcagua a hard mountain to ascend. It is important, although not indispensable, to have experience in other mountains. What do the programs include? All the programs include transfer in-out from Mendoza City, transfer of loads toward the base camps in mules, complete meals, lodging in mountain carps for two people and the attendance of professionals Trekking Guides or High Mountain Guides. What doesn't it include ?In our activities are not included the lodgings, transports, foods and extras expenses not specified in the programs, neither the expenses originated by the abandonment of the itinerary. Neither we include personal insurance neither the cost from the entrance permits to the Aconcagua Provincial Park but yes the attendance to acquire the same ones. What does it happen if I am alone? If you want, we can include you in a group, or if you prefer you can have a personal guide.
